Bradley v The Royal Mint – novel procedures
To follow our January post about this case, the liability hearing has now concluded. The Tribunal has indicated a decision may be issued in two to four weeks, but time pressures being what they are it may be rather longer.
An interesting though upsetting feature of the hearing was that Mrs Bradley, who is now working successfully and full time in another business, was clearly traumatised and became distressed at having to relive the events of 2022 when she lost her career at The Royal Mint. The result, with Employment Judge Moore and all barristers and solicitors at the hearing not having faced such a situation before, jointly had to work out special arrangements so that cross examination and all further questions had to be prepared in advance and then answered via video link.
An update will be provided when the decision on liability is received. The stakes are high since, not only did Mrs Bradley suffer the loss of her career and a job she clearly loved, she been on a six figure salary with a valuable civil service pension and her Schedule of Loss totals close to £1.7 million.
