Jackson Osborne wins record disability discrimination award
National builders’ merchant, Jewson Ltd, has been ordered to pay nearly £400,000 in compensation for disability discrimination compensation against dismissed employee Jonathan Jones. The Employment Tribunal in Cardiff accepted that Jewson discriminated against Mr Jonathan Jones, age 56, when they sacked him from his branch manager position in Cardigan, West Wales, only 5 months after he had suffered a severe stroke in April 2009. Yesterday, they assessed his losses at £390,870.58. (See our own In The Press page for details)
