Reminder re new tribunal and redundancy payment limits

As from 1st of February 2011, new compensation limits were introduced in respect of unfair dismissal claims and statutory redundancy payments.  The weekly pay figure which is used in calculating both the basic award for unfair dismissal and statutory redundancy payments is now £400.  It was previously £380.  This means that the maximum figure for both types of award is now £12,000.

At the same time, the compensatory element of an unfair dismissal claim rose to £68,400, meaning that the top limit on any unfair dismissal claim is now £80,400.  It is worth noting that these higher limits only apply if the date of termination is after the 1st of February 2011.
